Privacy Policy

This policy covers the JITO Youth Jaipur Discovery app (“the app”), run by JITO Youth Jaipur (“we”, “us”), the youth wing of the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) in Jaipur. It explains what personal data the app uses, who can see it and the rights you have under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”). Your membership application itself is covered by the website’s privacy policy.

• From your membership record: name, email (to log in), mobile number (only shared with members you connect with), membership number, gender, date of birth (to show your age and for partner suggestions if you opt in), city, company and occupation.
• What you add in the app: profile photo, company logo, bio, business details and website, school and college, interests, Instagram and LinkedIn links, marital status and partner suggestion preference.
• Your activity: connection requests, opportunities you post or respond to, event RSVPs, daily suggestions shown to you, and members you report or block.
• Technical: an encrypted login cookie, and your IP address for security and to limit abuse (for example, too many login attempts).

Your KYC details — Aadhaar, PAN, documents and address — are never shown anywhere in the app.

• Other logged-in members see your profile card: photo, name, business, designation, category, bio, education, interests, age and social links, and your company logo.
• Anyone, including search engines like Google, can see your public profile page (your profile link): photo, name, business, designation, bio, category and social links.
• Your mobile number is only shown to members whose connection request you accepted, or who accepted yours.
• Marital status and partner suggestions are never shown on your profile or public page. If you opt in, you’re only suggested to members who have opted in too.

Turning off “Show me in Discover and Directory” in your profile hides you from other members and removes your public page (it drops out of search engines over time).

• To run the member directory, daily suggestions, opportunities and events
• To let members you connect with reach you on WhatsApp
• To send the notifications you’ve chosen in your profile settings
• To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, and preventing spam and abuse

We process this data based on your consent, given when you joined and when you accept these terms in the app. We never sell your personal data.

The app runs on these providers, who process data only on our instructions:

• Supabase — database and file storage
• Vercel — hosting the app
• Resend — sending emails (login codes and notifications)

We keep your app data while you’re a member. When you delete your account, it is erased 48 hours later (you can cancel until then): your app profile and activity (photo, logo, bio, links, connections, opportunities, suggestions) and your login. Your membership record is kept for JITO’s records and legal obligations, as described in the website’s privacy policy — write to us if you want that erased too.

Under the DPDP Act you can:

• Access your data — Download my data in your profile
• Correct it — edit your profile, or write to us for membership details
• Erase it / withdraw consent — Delete my account in your profile
• Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity
• Raise a grievance about how we handle your data

The app talks only to its own server, your login is kept in an encrypted cookie, and access to personal data is restricted to the committee members who need it to run the community.

If we change this policy materially, we’ll update the date above and ask you to accept it again in the app.
